Adaptive leadership

I am an experienced programme manager who has specialised in problem-driven, context-specific adaptive management practices. Research and Strategy Development

I can contribute to your technical knowledge and ability to communicate around issues, trends, role players and drivers of change facing our cities. I have a broad set of interests and backgrounds in urban economics, housing, mobility, data governance, technology resilience and collaborative governance.

I’ll help you understand your environment, strategically.

WHAT I CAN DO WITH YOU

  • Development Policy and Planning

Stakeholder facilitation, research and coordination of technical (infrastructure, planning, design) elements into regional, municipal and precinct policies and plans. I have lead and contributed to policy and planning processes at a metro and precinct scale and been on the implementation team side, so I will focus on working within the capability to deliver.

  • Urban Management and Regeneration

Design and implementation of urban management and regeneration models, establishment and advisory support to SRAs (CIDs/UIPs), facilitation of input into local government urban management planning processes, design and facilitation of inclusive community place making and place management journeys. I have practical experience implementing regeneration and urban management projects and don’t mind rolling up my sleeves.

  • Urban Tech and Innovation

Advisory support on policy, strategy and regulation relating to technology in the urban realm, including private tech-enabled disruptors to traditional public goods and services; civic tech; and digital and data tools for improved urban service delivery and planning functions. I have lead the implementation of processes from product ideation through development in the civic tech and public sector urban tech space.

“Jodi is one of the few key people that have inspired me with their care about people’s quality of life through her work. Working with her you quickly realize you have a partner who not only get things done but understands people very well and is empathetic towards those she leads and works with. I have learnt a lot from Jodi from a people, project, resource management and how to create and manage partnerships. She is a leader and a great person to work with.” – Dillion Phiri, Creative Nestlings

“Working with Jodi has been an extremely rewarding experience, both personally and professionally. Jodi has a genuine talent in connecting with people in a way that is very unusual for most facilitators. From being able to bring all voices into the conversation  with care and understanding to distilling complex concepts and ensuring everyone is on board, all processes I’ve undergone with Jodi have been not only effectively dealt with, but have also resulted in relationships being strengthened. Jodi’s writing is clear, effective and emotive; all important in dealing with complex social issues such as social and economic development; equitable urban land markets and future-forward governance models”. – Marcela Guerrero Casas, former MD Open Streets Cape Town

“Jodi Allemeier is a leading thinker and practitioner in the urban development, planning and design of South African cities. Her forward-thinking and pragmatic approach is grounded in her extensive experience working with diverse stakeholders on complex issues facing society. Her comprehension of systems in cities, economic, political, and social has been a major asset in most projects I have worked on, and she has acted as a sounding board and constructive voice for most of the last decade” - Rashiq Fataar, Our Future Cities
